Okotoks RCMP are warning residents to be cautious after a string of vehicle break and enter complaints.

Sargent Sukh Randhawa says the incidents aren't specific to one part of town.

He says residents should take extra precautions when leaving their vehicles unattended.

"They can take the garage opener off and out of the vehicle and store it inside over night," he says. "At the same time we want to encourage people to be vigilent and lock their vehicles when they're parked outside."

Randhawa says there's a few similarities with the reports.

"The pattern seems to be quite similar in all the complaints. The garage door openers are being stolen and some of the objects in the vehicles are being taken away."

He says police may have a potential lead as witnesses have reported seeing an old black Toyota Tacoma in the area at the time of the occurrences.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Okotoks RCMP at (403) 995-6400 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
