A trio of High River murals have been spruced up this Summer.

The one most in need was the "Jubilation" mural on the side of the Secretarial Services Centre on 6th Avenue and 1st Street S.W.

Kim Unger, the Town's Parks Planning Supervisor says they knew pretty quickly after it was done, it was going to need some work.

"That mural was funded by the Calgary Foundation and was initially put up in 2016. And we quickly noticed there was going to be some problems with performance, and we had the artist re-do the work. So, it's back and I think is better than ever."

The other two murals getting a new lease on life, were the "First Nurse" on the side of the Rio Alto Restaurant on 3rd Avenue, and "Spitzee Post" on Evelyn's Cafe on 4th Avenue.

Unger says other murals in town are in various states of wear and tear, but the High River Arts and Culture Board, along with the Town can only do so much as most of the murals are on privately owned buildings and it's up to the owners to decide whether or not they want to preserve the murals.

The "First Nurse" mural on the side of the Rio Alto restaurant on High River's 3rd Avenue S.W. was the recipient of some TLC.

The "Spitzee Post" mural on the side of Evelyn's Cafe on 4th Avenue S.W. wasn't in too bad of shape, but needed some cleaning and minor repairs to extend it's lifespan.
