It's going to be a big weekend in Nanton.

One of the towns busiest weekends takes place with their Christmas event Nanton Lights the Way.

Chamber of Commerce Director Pam Woodall says it is the business communities kick off to the Christmas Season.

"It is the busiest weekend of the year for most of our businesses," said Woodall. "It gives people a great chance to see what Nanton has to offer in terms of unique businesses and services that offer things you won't find in the mall. It's just a nice small town Christmas."

It all kicks off with a Charm Bracelet Scavenger Hunt on Friday morning.

"You have the opportunity to purchase a charm bracelet for $10. You take it around town to 14 different businesses and that gets people into businesses they haven't been in before."

And there is lots to do for the kids.

"From 2 to 8 p.m. on Saturday there is the kids craft corner at the ice cream store on main street, so people can take their kids and stay with them and make a craft and have a Christmas goodie, or leave the kids there for a little while. It is well staffed with Candy Store staff."

There are a number of events including late-night shopping, free skating, hot chocolate, the Distinctly Nanton Market, a gingerbread house.
