Nanton Town Council is looking into having an outdoor skating rink next winter after a community group brought the idea to them.

A discussion about the idea sprung up on social media which resulted in Claudia Froome and a group of people putting together a proposal for council.

Mayor Jenn Handley says this winter, and last, certainly would have been a good one for the project.

"Our parks and rec guys thought this is something we should try next year," said Handley. "We are almost at the end of winter. We should look at this in September."

They will examine what is needed, who will be responsible and who should do it.

The community group along with Town administration have put together a detailed report including a budget on just what the project will take.

They are going to have the conversation again at the beginning of September.
