A Nanton family is again getting into the Halloween spirit.

Roxanne Hicklin has been decorating the garage as a haunted house for the past eight years.

"It started out a lot smaller and then every year we've just been kind of adding on,"  she says "It was originally outside and it's moved into my garage and we have additions outside the front door and outside the side door of the garage to make it bigger."

She says her husband was a little reluctant when it came to one request she'd made early on.

"The prop that kind of started this off was my husband built me a coffin. He didn't really want to at first because he just didn't like the idea of it so he built me a coffin and I kind of popped out of the coffin and then each year we had to change it up because everybody was expecting it," she says. "So then he built me a guy who hung in the tree and he actually moves, he kicks his feet and stuff and then he built me a granny that rocks in her chair and her eyes light up."

Hicklin says that's not the end of it, she has a seven foot tall werewolf who's eyes light up and growls, a three headed dog who's eyes light up and the heads move around and smoke comes out of their mouths, man in an electric chair and some clowns.

She says her kids help out with the haunted house which is in their garage and an attached car port tent although she admits she may have traumatized her daughter who was five at the beginning and didn't want to go to her own house after a friend had taken her trick or treating, because she was too scared.

But she did get over it.

"I made her be Chucky one year, she came in to help and she scared a couple of people and that's when she realized 'Ow that was fun'."

The good news for kids is there's a Halloween treat for everyone who goes through the house.

The haunted house is at 2403 27 Street in Nanton.
