The Town of Nanton is looking for a new Chief Administrative Officer after Tarolyn Aaserud handed in her resignation this week.

Aaserud resigned due to to a compassionate request to pursue an opportunity to work closer to her family in Medicine Hat.

Mayor Jennifer Handley says Aaserud will stay on until November 9th and will be actively involved in the recruitment of the new CAO.

"Truly it comes down to compassionate reasons," said Handley. "At this point in time she needs to be close to her Dad and her family in Medicine Hat."

Handley adds Aaserud had a lot of plans already in place.

"She was very, very clear about how many plans she had for this Town, how much she enjoyed working in this town with the staff with council all of that and how she will be involved in the hiring process and in the transition."

Handley adds ideally they will have someone in place so Aaserud can help train the new CAO.

Aaserud was hired in June of this year.
