The Energy East pipeline process had a recent setback with the resignation of members of the National Energy Board review committee.

Foothills MP John Barlow said from last week's PC caucus retreat in Atlantic Canada, the job situation is getting worse across the country and having the review process go off the rails the way it did doesn't help at all.

"They're really feeling it here and it's not just about getting Alberta's or Saskatchewan's oil to tidewater, it's about getting it to refineries here in Atlantic Canada which would mean jobs here in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Labrador, these provinces are also looking for economic development, and Canada's natural resources mean economic development," Barlow says.

The Canadian Oilwell Drillers Association has said it expects 60-percent fewer jobs than in 2014 and Barlow says we can no longer sit back and hope things get better.
