The town of Okotoks continues to expand as the new D'arcy community plans are revealed.

The 280 acre development will offer numerous lifestyles as townhomes, villas, starter, move-up and estate homes will be available to people interested in making the neighborhood their new home.

United Communities marketing director Steve Lepan says it's something to look forward to.

"D'arcy is one of our most highly anticipated communities we've ever done. It's a very popular and well known piece of property on the north end of Okotoks bordering the D'arcy Ranch golf course to the west and Northridge drive to the east with some breath taking views of the Rocky Mountains."

The future area will be home to a number of features including a robust park and pathway system that will connect to existing community pathways.

It will also highlight the first safe routes within town, marking pathways very precisely to help children to and from school safely.

Lepan says United Communities is very enthusiastic to introduce the neighborhood for many reasons.

"Well it's exciting for us and I think exciting for a lot of residents of the town because it means two new schools, it means retail opportunity on the north end of town and for those in the market for a new home obviously there will be great choice there as well."

And in the decision of naming the new community, Lepan says, it was quite obvious.

"We wanted to honor the history of the land and the previous land owners and the D'arcy family have been very integral to the town of Okotoks. They have their very successful golf course right there and they've always been intent in keeping that golf course public because they want it to be available to everyone and we think that sense of inclusivity is important and we wanted to honor their name in that way."

United Communities is currently working through the planning process with the town but hope to commence construction next year with show homes becoming available in late 2017.
