Expect the business community to grow even further in 2016 in the Town of Okotoks.

Plenty of new businesses will set up shop this year covering various types of services and operations.

Economic Development Manager for the Town, Shane Olson says new ethnic restaurant will open it's doors in the spring.

"Cafe Cancun is opening in Westmount, it is a Mexican themed coffee house, they will have food and coffee beverages and the should be opening later this spring and it will compliment the recent opening of the daycare Kids N' Company in that facility," he says.

Olson says the Town is also working with a company on getting a micro-brewery getting off the ground but also says the Southbank Business Park is open for business in taking new clientele to run their business there.

"There's 43,000 s/ft over three floors, its a great opportunity for professionals and innovative technology companies to come into the community, we have also had some legal inquires in terms of law firms looking at Okotoks," he says. "We know in Alberta a lot of the lawyers over the next 5-10 years will be retiring and there's anticipation to be a shortage."

Olson also notes that there will be an increase in medical services in Town coming soon.

"There will be a medical clinic in 2017 in the Southbank Business Park by Costco but also in the spring of 2016 we should see some new medical family physicians, possibly some medical specialists going into the Westmount commercial area, There is a two storey building there as a commercial gateway building for those sorts of uses."
