Residents in the northwest end of High River will have something to look forward to as a Tim Hortons will be popping up as early as this Christmas.

Manager of planning and development for the Town, Khalid Mohammed, says they're working hard to bring in many new developments to that end of town.

"The people who live in the northwest always complain that we don't have anything near to their area, and that the only opportunities are to go to 12 Avenue and whatnot," he says. "And some of them even say it's better to just drive to Okotoks."

He says he's had a lot of interest from people wanting to set up commercial developments in the northwest, just off Centre Street, which is good news for the town.

The Town currently has tenants who have submitted applications for an Esso and a liquor store, as well as the Tim Hortons.

"Development within this proposed shopping centre in the northwest includes a Tim Hortons, an additional gas station, a footprint for a Mac's store, and it also may include a grocery store in the near future," Mohammed says.
