The Foothills Youth Foundation building is buzzing with orange t-shirts as management and staff from Okotoks Home Depot gut the kitchen for the boys and girls club.

Director of Foothills Boys & Girls Club, Shirley Puttock.

Club Director Shirley Puttock says the new kitchen will be a huge improvement compared to what's there now.

"The kitchen they had before was really just a concession for the youth and we didn't meet health regulations to cook in there."

Puttock says they'll remove all of the old things out of the kitchen and tomorrow will install new lighting, appliances, cupboards and freshen everything up with a coat of paint.

Director Puttock says they're on a mission.

"They're going to rip all the old things out and tomorrow morning they'll paint and put in new lighting, counters, cupboards and all new appliances. We'll be getting a double sink and a hand washing sink so we can have cooking classes with the children and youth."

"The club hasn't been able to cook because we didn't meet health regulations to actually cook in there. This is so generous of Home Depot and we're very excited. We'll also be able to share it with other community groups who would like to use it" Puttock said.

She says the big reveal will go tomorrow afternoon around 3pm with MP John Barlow and Mayor Craig Snodgrass on hand for the big reveal.
