George Lane Park is looking a lot like Christmas now that it is all decked out for the holidays.

Each year the display gets a little bit bigger and a little bit brighter.

To help make that happen this year a new program offered up several smaller evergreen trees for people to sponsor.

The cost is $25 a tree, but the person has to provide their own lights and decorations.

High River Christmas Organizer Ted Dawson says there is one tree left.

"We have one left in the park, it is a taller one," said Dawson. "So that one would take a little more effort to get to. You would need a pole to stretch your lights up."

The one rule is you have to provide L-E-D lights to go on the tree.

"Other than that they can hang baubles on it or whatever they would like to do. It is kind of open that way."

Tress will be marked with a sign naming the sponsors.

'They are responsible to set it up and take it down sometime in the middle or end of January."

Dave Holowaychuk and his wife Bev were excited to get in on the action.

"Ted had a booth set up at the Trade Fair this year," said Holowaychuk. "Talking about sponsoring trees in a role to raise money for what they are doing so we jumped all over it."

They were just planning on sticking to just adding lights to their tree.

"Ted said to decorate it the way you want. Lights are a part of it, there is a certain type of light. Anything else you want to do is up to you."

The lights are already on in the park but a special night is planned before the Santa Claus Parade on December 1 which will include the Lions Club handing out hot dogs and hot chocolate.

The Rotary Club of High River will have light wands for the first 1,000 children. There will also be a chance to meet Elsa, Anna and Olaf along with other activities.
