High River could have a new Recreation Complex in the next few years.

The Town's Parks and Recreation Manager, Guy Latour, says they're just putting the finishing touches on a report to Council outlining the project.

"There's a lot of work to be done, but the exciting news is that we're just in the final stages of the consultant work on the new Master Recreation Facility's and Program Plan. That should be coming to Council in the next couple of months. It contains recommendations on possibly some new recreation facilities, moving forward with some new things for recreation and parks."

He says it should really spur some discussions when it lands in front of councillors.

Latour adds that they need to have all their ducks in a row to apply for Federal and Provincial funding, but is optimistic a new recreation facility, somewhere in Town, could be under construction within five years.

He says any speculation on what the new recreation facilities will be, how much they'll cost or where they'd be located are premature.
