High River Mayor Craig Snodgrass says he loves the idea of community celebrations, but doesn't want to celebrate the flood every year.

The Town of High River marks the second anniversary of the 2013 flood with a community celebration and bar-b-que Saturday.

Mayor Craig Snodgrass says he's in favour of the get together, but doesn't want to keep marking June 20th as "Flood Day."

"Ya, I don't want to be commemmorating the flood every year. We don't need to do that. It's something that happened, something we learned from, something that provided us with a massive opportunity to be a much better community and that's what we need to celebrate now is how far High River has come since that day, but as well the future of High River and just how incredible this Town is going to be going into the future."

The celebration starts at 11 a.m. at George Lane Park and runs until 4 o'clock featuring live music featuring local groups like the Hamiltones, June Bugs, The Steve Fisher Band and Tim Isberg and Band.

The Bar-B-Que runs from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

There's a photo booth, prizes and games.
