High River residents hoping to do a little outdoor skating are going to have to wait a little longer.

Peter Leek the Town of High River's Roads, Solid Waste and Recycling Supervisor, says it's still too warm to flood the rink in McLaughlin Meadows in the Town's far southwest.

"We are actually waiting on colder temperatures. We need it to be, remaining below -12 for a minimum of a week consistently for us to get the surface to start. And with these "freeze-thaws" that we've had, it just hasn't been conducive to getting it started yet."

Leek says once it does get cold enough, they should have the ice in within a week.
