If you were looking to set off some fireworks in High River to celebrate Canada Day, you're more than welcome to do so, if you buy a permit and meet some other conditions.

High River Fire Department Fire Prevention Officer Clayton Rutberg says there's some paperwork that needs to be filled out first.

"You would have to come to the fire hall and get a permit from us, which also includes stuff like needing insurance. So it can be a process that you have to go through to actually shoot those fireworks off."

Rutberg says fireworks are also very dangerous and need to handled carefully and by adults.
