Monday, September 24 was nomination day for the vacant Ward One seat on the Foothills School Division Board.

They're looking to fill the seat vacated after Jeannine Tucker was removed from the Board shortly after the last election over a conflict of interest.

Tucker will run again, along with challenger John (Jack) Molyneux.

FSD Assistant Superintendent of Corporate Services Drew Chipman says Tucker is welcome to run for her old seat.

"The nomination process doesn't allow for the returning officer to deny anybody's nomination papers. So anybody that feels that they're eligible can put their nomination papers in. It goes to an election and then obviously could be challenged if somebody or the board feels there's an issue."

Chipman says if she win's it'll be up to the Board to see if she can serve or whether or not the conflict still exists.

Election day is Monday, October 22.
