The Okotoks Food Bank has wrapped up another successful Christmas season.

The food bank once again held both the Adopt a Family and Christmas Hamper programs.

Sheila Hughes, executive director, says she's thrilled with how the hampers turned out.

"We gave out 170 Christmas hampers so it was about the same as last year but we were pretty pleased with that because we did our registration a little different this year and we weren't sure if we were going to have the same response."

Adopt a Family was also a success with all of the families being adopted.

Hughes says the food bank is heading into the new year on a high note thanks to community support.

"We received a lot of food donations this year, people again were very generous," she says. "Our cupboards are full which is nice to know because we do expect to be a lot busier in January and we have received lots of donations from both individuals and businesses, local small businesses in particular have been very generous this year."

The Okotoks Food Bank office is closed from Dec. 23 to Jan.4.
