Despite being open for two years at their new location, Okotoks Ford Lincoln finally had it's grand opening they've waiting for.

Hundreds of people gathered in the 32,000 square foot dealership Wednesday night with many special guests on hand.

Ford Canada CEO Dianne Craig

One of those guests was the CEO of Ford Canada Dianne Craig who helped cut the ribbon and says she was impressed with the reputation the dealership has on the community.

"I love the community it's very cozy and I heard so much about Okotoks from Gerry Wood over the last five years since I've been in my role and I know how much this community means to him and his family and I'm glad to be here and there's a lot of love in this room."

Owner of Okotoks Ford Gerry Wood thanked all of those have supported the dealership over 20 years and numerous local charities from the Food Bank to Kidsport thanked Ford for their contributions.

Craig says the number of organizations that sees a contribution by the dealership is phenomenal.

"It's breath taking and a lot of our Ford dealers across Canada give back to their community it's always been part of our DNA. But what Gerry does and what the Wood family does and when you think of Gerry and Elaine Wood they are role models and inspirations for people that call themselves philanthropists."

Despite the recent economic downturn across the country and especially in Alberta, Craig says she credits the Wood Automotive Group for continuing their support to charities.

"Our business has been very strong but it also comes down to the people and the relationship and their reputation of the store. Giving back to the community, people know that and they see that and I think that's why the business continues to thrive here."
