Okotoks residents are encouraged to get active for National Health and Fitness day on Saturday.

This is the second year in a row that Okotoks has claimed the first Saturday in June as National Health and Fitness day in support of the federal initiative that became law in  December 2014.

Janette Messer, community programs and events manager, says the Town wants to make it easy to promote living a healthy lifestyle.

"It is important that we create healthy residents right across Canada and it's something that gives us an opportunity to provide a variety of fitness and healthy opportunities for members of our community that are fun and it's free."

Activities include spin class, Weekend Warrior boot camp, pickleball, basketball, zumba, yoga, badminton, family swim, floor hockey, and family dodge ball. A family skate is also scheduled at Pason Centennial Arena.

Crescent Point Field House has partnered with the Town to host activities like pound fitness, zumba, Shred Fitness boot camp, and family soccer.
