The Town of Okotoks is now inviting the community to review and provide final feedback on the draft Environmental Master Plan before it goes back to council for final approval.

Dawn Smith, Environment and Sustainability Coordinator for the town, says after a year of pulling the document together, the plan is ready for another round of public input.

"It's been presented twice to town council for information for modifications, and now council has supported it in principal and has now requested it to be available for four weeks for the community to comment on," she said.

Smith says there are some strategies residents can use to ease the process of reviewing the very detailed document.

"The easiest thing to do is to go to the executive summary and go through the main strategies identified in the plan," she said.

The 30-year plan has been in the development phase for approximately one year, and identifies local strategies that reflect the town's commitment to environmental excellence.

The town estimates over 1000 residents have provided input on the plan through various public participation engagements.

Residents have until October 14th to provide input, and can do so by visiting www.okotoks.ca/emp.
