Alberta is on track to enter Stage 2 of the Open for Summer plan.

Stage 2 will see a large number of restrictions eased, including indoor dining at restaurants, public outdoor gatherings like concerts and festivals allowed with 150-person cap, and indoor facilities like recreations and cinemas opening at 1/3 capacity.

This includes the Okotoks Public Library which will be opening its doors with the rest of the province.

Library Manager Sarah Gillie is excited to see residents back in the building

"It should be relatively similar to the last time we reopened, we have limited capacity, so approximately 70 people are allowed in the building. I don't anticipate lineups and the weather is nicer, which is nice."

The Library won't be opening up any board rooms for booking yet but will be offering a few individual study tables. They will also continue to offer their popular curbside pickup.

"We do understand that some people still feel uncomfortable entering the building and for those that are unable to wear a mask so we will still offer that service."

The curbside pickup program has seen great success with 1717 curbside pickups in the month of May circulating over 16 thousand items.

Gillie adds those planning to head to the library may find parking a little tricky.

"Our parking lot is closed and that is as part of the Okotoks Arts and Learning Campus construction. We do still have our five-minute parking available in front of the building and we have temporary parking that is located at the former creamery site."

The High River Library will remain closed with its opening date set for June 14th.
