An Okotoks man was sentenced yesterday, March 30, in a deadly drunk driving accident that took the life of an 11 year old girl two years ago.

33 year old Karl Mathew Schwarz was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison in Calgary Courts yesterday, a disappointment for parents of the victim, Tammy Truong.

On September 20, 2013 Schwarz's Ford F-150 collided with the Truong family van in Calgary while he was driving driving and was over the legal limit.

Schwarz's blood samples after the crash showed he had a blood alcohol more than double the legal limit of 80 mg.

Schwarz will serve his sentence at a federal penitentiary.
