The voluntary and temporary closure of the Okotoks airport has many Pilots and aircraft owners looking for a new place to call home and High River makes the most sense geographically.

"We've had quite a number, probably eight or ten or a dozen and that includes people who are interested in being able to park inside hangars."

He says there are plans to construct additional tie down spaces but they won't ready for a couple months.

He says until then they will do their best to accommodate people looking for a place to park their plane.

The main cause for the temporary closure was safety violations discovered by Transport Canada including wildlife and construction hazards.

Stephansson says he's doing what he can answer their concerns and make room for the displaced pilots.

"Our website is www.highriverairport.ca and there's contact information right there for who to talk to and we certainly as always we're glad to listen to peoples requests and do what we can to accommodate them."
