The Okotoks RCMP are looking for information from the public to help them get to the bottom of a string of break-ins over the last two months near DeWinton and North of Okotoks.

Sgt. Sukh Randhawa says suspects entered through ground-level windows in each case, and the items stolen are usually very similar.

"The suspects are mostly targeting flat-screen TVs, laptops, electronic products, and in one instance they also have stolen a vehicle," he says. "The break-and-enters are occurring during the daytime, when the majority of people in that community are at work."

Randhawa says there's a good chance the stolen items could show up online.

"That's a good starting point," he says. "In fact, the Okotoks RCMP General Investigation Section is also looking into this matter, and they will make some further inquiries, in terms of talking to the neighbours, getting some more information, as well as looking at Kijiji to see if any stolen items surface on the website."

Randhawa says in addition to making sure all your doors and windows are locked, there are a few other precautionary steps to take to avoid being a target of a break-and-enter.

"Let the neighbours know if you're going to be out-of-town or working," he says. "Work with the neighbours, work with the neighbourhood in terms of keeping an eye out for each other and keeping an eye out for any suspicious activity or vehicles in the area that don't belong, and report that to the RCMP immediately."

If you have any information on one or more of the break-ins, call the Okotoks RCMP at 403-938-4202 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
