A man from Calgary will be making a court appearance in Okotoks at the end of the month following thefts from vehicles.

On Tuesday police responded to numerous calls of thefts from vehicles around Stockton Avenue and Milligan Drive.

The suspect searched through belongings in an unlocked vehicle and stole purses, money, and credit cards and attempted to use a stolen credit card later on at the 7-Eleven on Milligan Drive where he also stole lottery tickets from behind the counter.

Police say he tried to sell the stolen purses at a nearby store where a witness was able to identify one of the bags which resulted in a fight between the witness and the suspect.

The suspect took off on foot and was found shortly after by Okotoks RCMP. No injuries were reported.

RCMP say Richard Ogilvie of Calgary has been charged with theft, fraud, and breach of probation.

He's scheduled to appear in Okotoks Provincial Court on July 29.
