Okotoks RCMP are looking for the public's assistance in helping them fight one crime at a time.

The RCMP is bringing back its Citizens On Patrol program.

Sgt. Sukh Randhawa says it's a great way for community members to make Okotoks a better place to live.

"It's a program that RCMP whole heartly support. Okotoks right now is looking for more members to come on board with this program," he says. "It is my understanding that the Okotoks RCMP had a Citizens on Patrol program before and we're trying to revive it again."

He adds if you're interested in joining Citizens On Patrol all you have to do is visit the RCMP detachment.

"Pick-up an application package, which involves their information and the RCMP will do a background check on it and once we have a group of people who are interested we will proceed with formal training in terms with the program."

Randhawa says the Citizens On Patrol isn't limited to just Okotoks residents but also the surrounding communities.
