A new school scheduled to open in Okotoks for Kindergarten to Grade 9 students next fall, will mean changes for a number of families.

The Foothills School Division will be hosting a series of upcoming meetings discussing the realignment of school boundaries in the community.

Assistant Superintendent of Corporate Services Drew Chipman says it is important that parents give the division feedback on the changes in a series of upcoming meetings.

"We had a public meeting in the spring to notify the community as to the process we are going to be using this fall," said Chipman. "The actual meeting will be meeting at the end of this month and then we will start the public consultation process."

He says after the consultation it will go to the trustees for review and to select a potential attendance boundaries.

"We will take that back to the public to get feedback on."

The final decision on boundaries will be made in April 2019 so everyone has a chance to prepare for their new schools by the fall.
