A lot of different issues were brought up at Tuesday night's all candidates forum in High River.

But many of the candidates were surprised with the one that didn't, downtown parking.

Jamie Kinghorn says he's certainly heard a lot about it while campaigning.

"I know it's a big issue, I hear about it all the time, you either love it or you hate it, I'm not sure what's the best way to deal with all of that but I know we've got to give it a chance, it's there let's see how things go and if we've got to tweak it a little bit maybe we have to tweak it, but for right now let's give it a chance," Kinghorn says.

Council hopeful Terry Coleman says he'd like to see traffic moving better downtown and isn't opposed to looking at returning streets to one-way traffic.

Michael Nychyk says he was sure the issue would be brought up.

"People are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak, there's less construction now, so perhaps that opinion that there's not enough (parking) or it's not serving enough, people are starting to see that maybe it's not quite as bad as some of the negative response to it is," Nychyk says.

Sandra Weibe echoed those comments.

"There is a plan in place and so there's more parking coming and I think once the construction is gone and maybe even when the film crews are gone we'll be able to see that there is enough parking," Weibe says. "And there's plenty of handicap parking too, some people have been concerned about not enough senior parking or not enough parking for the disabled but there is plenty of disabled parking down there."

Voters will select one of the four candidates on Monday October 17 when they cast their ballots.
