One person was killed, and another sent to hospital in life-threatening condition following a single motorcycle collision Tuesday morning on Highway 22 between Highways 540 and 532, just South of the Bar-U Ranch.

Public Education Officer with Alberta Health Services Adam Loria says EMS responded to the scene to find a damaged motorcycle and the two victims.

"I don't know exactly what preceded the event, but when we arrived, there were two people that were injured," he says. "The first person we assessed, an adult female, and given the injuries sustained, paramedics had to declare her deceased on the scene. They turned their efforts over to the second person that was injured, a male. He was assessed and treated on scene by ground paramedic crews, and subsequently air-lifted to the Foothills Medical Centre by STARS Air Ambulance, and his condition was life-threatening at the time of transport."

According to the Turner Valley RCMP, the woman is 18 years-old, and the male, believed to be the driver of the motorcycle, is 60.

The RCMP's investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, and the names of the two involved won't be released at this time.
