An Okotoks family is in Edmonton sitting by their daughters bedside, at the Stolley Children's Hospital, awaiting a critical operation to save her life.

Lukah Mitchell was admitted into a Calgary hospital earlier this month, when she showed signs of a health issue.

Lukah is the daughter of Tanis and Dakota Mitchell.

She was diagnosed with a tumour inside her abdomen and was rushed into surgery, where Doctor's were shocked to learn she would need to undergo a series of others operations to replace a number of organs.

Her parents say their daughters case illustrates the importance of organ donation.

Lukah is a year old and is a top priority for organ donations, however, finding a donor has been difficult.

A gofundme campaign to help the Mitchell family with expenses and has exceeded $27,000 of its $30,000 goal.
