A few thousand UCP supporters took over Red Deer over the weekend for their first ever Annual General Meeting.

One issue that popped up again was gay-straight alliances as party members voted narrowly to have schools inform parents if their children join one of the alliances.

Highwood MLA Wayne Anderson says it's not written in stone.

"This is just a resolution and not a policy. Secondly, the resolution came from the floor, which members can bring forward. But, in retrospect, we have never held the position that we are going to "out" any GSA or gay people from GSA peer groups obviously."

Anderson says the bottom line is they're not going to out any gay kids.
