Nanton RCMP are keeping an eye out for a pair of guns stolen from a rural property South of Town.

Corporal Travis Ogilve says thefts from rural properties are on the rise.

"Rural property theft is becoming an increasing occurrence for us for sure. The crooks are finding it a little easier to go to rural properties and knock on the door and if no one's home, helping themselves to property. There's less likelihood of witnesses and people being able to see the occurrence as it's happening."

Ogilve says a BSA English Arms, bolt action 7 MM Magnum rifle with a 29 inch barrel and a semi-automatic Ruger .22 with a scope went missing.

He says entry was gained forcefully through the front door, luckily the home owner wasn't home at the time.
