Slowly but surely the twinning of Okotoks Pason Centennial Arena is beginning to take shape.

Plenty of material has been moved in and out at the site of two new ice surfaces for the Town of Okotoks to have at their disposal.

Okotoks Community Services Director Susan Laurin says the foundation of the arenas are the main focus for construction crews right now as pilings are being installed.

"The pilings will give the support to the foundation, the other thing that's really exciting this week is that the grade beams will be coming and we'll be starting to put the grade beams down so we can start the foundations at the beginning of January," she says.

That will cover the rest of the work scheduled for 2016 and Laurin says when 2017 rolls in you'll really get a sense of what the twinning's finished product will look like.

"The steel walls are in production and we are anticipating that they'll be delivered in January. So towards the end of January and the beginning of February you should be able to see the walls going up for the initiation structure of Pason Centennial Arena."

Right now there are some restrictions when it comes to parking and access to parts of the arena and Laurin says that will change as the construction site expands.

"Some of the parking on the very east side of the site so that's in between the football fields and where the new arena is going to be is closed off to the public. So there's not 360 degree circulation around the entire site right now."

The twinning is expected to be completed by January 2018.
