A High River woman charged in connection with exploiting teens in Okotoks has been arrested again.

Staff Sergeant Robin Alexander with the High River RCMP confirmed they had re-arrested Samantha Pedersen.

"She was arrested last week, we affected the arrest in High River here, on behalf of Calgary Police Service," he says. "She'd committed some offences up in Calgary and they immediately became aware that she was on conditions entered by us, so they contacted us and asked us to pick her up."

RCMP charged 23-year-old Samantha Pedersen with five counts of trafficking in persons under 18 years, five counts of procuring a person under 18 years, four counts of sexual exploitation of a young person and one count of assault.

The charges stem from an investigation initiated by an RCMP school resource officer who became aware that some local teens were being recruited via social media and then exploited by adults for criminal purposes.

The investigation revealed that five teenage girls between the ages of 13 and 16, had been victimized.

Pedersen was involved in an alleged assault and breach of her previous conditions.
