It's groundhog day here in the Foothills, which means the folks over at Environment Canada can take the day off right?

Meteorologist, Kyle Fourgere says he's not quite ready to give up his job to a furry, hole diggin' critter.

"Yeah, it's OK to have everyone's eyes turn on him for a day or two. I'm pretty confident out forecast will verify a little better than his. But, we're happy to let him take the eyes for that day."

Here in the Foothills, "Pekisko Pete" didn't see his shadow, which bodes for an early Spring, same story for Ontario's Wiarton Willie and Pennsylvania's Punxsutawney Phil who didn't see their shadows.

Only Nova Scotia's Shubenacadie Sam dove back into his hole after seeing his shadow, meaning six more weeks of Winter for the Maritimes.
