There's an exciting opportunity for aspiring Foothills actors and actresses.

Aspen Crossing is currently looking for a few more cast members to perform on its 2017 Polar Express Train.

Aspen Crossing General Manager Donna Biggar says she's looking for a know-it-all boy and about 10 dancing chefs.

"The dancing chefs are one of the most important ones," Biggar explains. "They're the ones that greet everybody when you first come in -- the ones that are in your car with you the whole trip and they explain everything and they explain to the children what's happening. It's a very important part.

"Because I need 55 people to run Polar Express, it's difficult to draw from a small area like Mossleigh."

Biggar says she's looking for outgoing performers who enjoy interacting with people. The know-it-all boy should be in the 12- to 14-year-old age range, while the ages of the dancing chefs can range from high school students to adults.

She adds that the paid opportunity is a great one for young performers.

"The students that I've hired, they've said it's really helped them in their drama classes," Biggar says. "You are on the stage the whole time and you have to improv the whole event, because really, the dancing chefs don't have a lot of lines.

"You have to make up your own lines and you have to stay in character for the whole time, and that's helped them too."

The Polar Express runs about three performances weekend nights from the end of November until Christmas Eve.
The train ride covers 14 miles of track and follows the Polar Express story, taking visitors on an imaginary journey to the North Pole.

"I love it because I get to see the look on people's faces when they get up to see Santa," Biggar says. "(They're) just so excited. It's a very pleasurable job, not a lot of work, and it's just a lot of fun to see that many people happy."
