Road crews were out in full force Monday, October 2, doing their best to get roads in better shape for Wednesday's commute.

Monday's winter storm made highway driving treacherous in central and Southern Alberta.

Volker Stevin'S Diana Smith says keeping Highway 2 clear for travelers was a priority for road crews Monday.

"We're starting with the main highways, which would be Highways 2 and 7, and then we'll work our way to the secondary roads and poke through them as much as we can," she explains. "Right now we don't really have anybody on these roads because we're so busy trying to keep Highway 2 open. There's a couple on the side roads, but most of our guys are on Highway 2."

Smith says road crews will be working 24/7 until roads are clear and safe for travel once again.
