A couple of open houses were held Tuesday at the Bob Snodgrass Rec-Plex to get feedback on plans for future recreation facilities for High River.

Carol Fitzgerald is a pickleball enthusiast and hopes there will be more courts available in any future builds.

"There's nine courts available here now and lots of days we have them filled up with people waiting on the side to play, and so that would be my biggest thing in any structure that they build is that, and maybe more times available," Fitzgerald says.

Bob Cruikshant says one proposal he didn't like could see the town defer a new pool.

"Based on what's here today, I'd hate to see the town without a pool, which is probably what we'd end up with if we went with proposal number three where the pool's deferred," he says. "The existing pool is not going to last a long time so I think our best option at the present time is to build this new pool and then I guess it's a question of where they locate it."

Sharon Turner says she has a concern about what happens while construction's underway as well.

"I don't feel that we should be without a pool, like shut down and have no pool for two years, to me that's wrong," Turner says.

The consultants hired by the Town will compile the views expressed at Tuesday's open houses into a report and take it to council in the new year.
