A power outage in the town of High River had over 630 people without service for a brief period this afternoon, January 24th.

Fire chief Len Zebedee said it made for a busy couple of hours for his crews as they responded to several alarms and a couple of calls for assistance.

"We had one where a gentleman in a wheelchair was in his lift when the power went out'" said Zebedee. "So he couldn't lift up and get into his house so we had to deal with that until the power came back on."

They also needed to assist a woman with a backup power source for her oxygen.

No word from Fortis yet as to just what caused the power outage.
