If you like lifting heavy things, or watching people lift heavy things, July 28th is a day you'll want to mark in your calendar.

The Hub on MacLeod Trail will be hosting a powerlifting competition that's attracting lifters from all over the province.

The Hub Performance Training owner, Lisa Szabon-Smith, says "the event is also a qualifier for Nationals, so anyone trying to get into Nationals should come." She adds, "this is the first time there's been a powerlifting meet in High River and the event is open to both lifters and spectators."

The powerlifting competition takes place on Saturday, July 28th, 2018 at the Hub, and is in the 100% RAW powerlifting federation, which means no compression pants or bench shirts can be used to assist with the lifts. "In addition, lifters are also drug-tested, which helps ensure that the lifts are done by pure effort", Lisa said.

The major lifts are the back squat, bench press, and the dead lift.

Registration is open until July, 20, 2018.
