Premier Notley defended her governments management of power contracts Thursday afternoon in Edmonton.

She says the NDP are doing a lot of things to ensure stability in the electricity industry and knows the source of investment uncertainties.

"The broken state of the energy only market and the deregulated market that was brought in over a decade and a half ago by the previous government, quite honestly that is creating a great deal of uncertainty with respect to investment."

Notley adds everyone is throwing accusations towards one another about what's unstable.

She says her government recognizes the need for change and are moving forward on it.

Notley wasn't specific when asked about bringing in retrospective legislative but assured Albertan's she's going to do what's best for everyone.

"We are going to do everything we can to get the best outcome for consumers as we can based on what we believe is an appropriate understanding of what we're legally able to do."

Notley says she is not considering any retroactive legislation on other contracts.

Critics from nearly every sector are voicing their displeasure and crying foul with respect to the way the NDP government is managing power contracts.

Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi was quoted earlier in the week calling the notion to retroactively change contracts with power companies "nuts" and Notley says the attacks are unwarranted.

"With respect to Mayor Nenshi he is taking a position with respect to one particular company that has a relationship with the city of Calgary."
