Property owners in High River are now responsible to cut grass on boulevards adjacent to their property. Manager of Parks and Recreation Guy Latour says a large majority of people have already been taking care of the boulevards beside their properties, but the town made it official by amending the Tree Protection Bylaw.

"We've just amended the bylaw to give property owners adjacent to boulevards the ability to cut all of their grass. So a large, large majority of people take care of the boulevards beside their properties and we just made that official.

He says moving forward the town will only be maintaining grass on boulevards beside town property.

"We have a few residents that we've taken care of it in the past, and it'll be their responsibility moving forward to take care of their own boulevards."

Latour says before the Tree Protection Bylaw was amended, it could be considered illegal to cut grass on any boulevards in town.
