High River Town Council is on board with getting a new dog park. The High River 4-H Perfect Paws Canine Club approached council last week with $1,300 for the project. Club president Nicole Steed says the town needs a bigger, better dog park.

"This one is too small and we've been told that by many, many people. Considering we are a dog project 4-H club, it seems like that's something we should try and push for."

She says council was very supportive.

"I felt that they had a very positive response, and that's very comforting and supporting to hear."

Club member, Katie Stoddart says she's very happy council supports having a fenced off area in the new park.

"I like it too because I have one of the dogs that would need the fenced off area. We used to go there a lot, but it wasn't great because there would be other dogs that would be an issue. So, I think it's good to hear that they are on board with it."

Club president Nicole Steed says the town needs a dog park with more space to promote healthy activity, and it's something they're pushing for.
