The Province has rolled out a pilot project that'll open up a thousand daycare spaces Province wide for just $25/day

The $10-million dollar project could lead to a universal program subsidized by taxpayers.

Highwood MLA Wayne Anderson agrees daycare is costly, but that comes with the decision to have children.

"Daycare yes is costly for some folks, but you make that decision to have children, wonderful decision. But to have taxpayers subsidize the daycare system without doing an economic impact study, without consultation. I think again, this Government is running forward with an idealistic agenda, without consulting the citizens of Alberta."

Premier Rachel Notley says the pilot will create 230 jobs.

In all 18 daycare centres around Alberta will be involved in the pilot.

They're asked to submit forms showing their interest, and the Government says those with the most interest will be able to take part in the program.
