With only a little more ways to go to finish building the duplex in High River, Habitat for Humanity is doing one final fundraising push.

Chairperson for Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta Foothills Chapter, Marilyn Boake, says they're hosting a special event at Lynwood Ranch.

"While the families are busy working on the house, we are still busy in the background fundraising," she says. "So we have our first annual Raise the Roof fundraiser event taking place on Sat. Oct. 24."

The evening will kick off with a roast beef dinner, followed by a concert by Glen's Western Swing Project, and a dance.

Boake says this fundraiser will not only help the two High River families move into the duplex, it will help future families as well.

"We just need to push ourselves over the line to make sure these families can move into their house by Christmas," she says. "We are in the meantime starting to think about where we're going to do our next build. Even though (the duplex) is close to being paid for, we will keep on our fundraising push as we lead up to be able to announce the build of a second house."
