A rally is planned for Friday, March 9 outside the Okotoks Provincial Court Building to show support for local land owner Edouard Maurice.

He's facing charges of aggravated assault, pointing a firearm and careless use of a firearm, following a robbery at his home near Okotoks back on Tuesday, February 24.

Rally Organizer George Clark says they'll keep it simple.

"All we're looking to do is give a strong show of support for young Eddie Maurice, who's recently been charged with several serious offences in defence of his family and property."

Clark says he wants those in attendance to keep it respectful, with no profanity or disrespect for authorities.

He says they're expecting a large crowd, but they've spoken with the Town of Okotoks to assure them they won't be intrusive or cause them any difficulties.

Clark says they'll also have a few speakers talk to the crowd about what land owners can and can't do in defence of their property.

The rally starts at 8:45 a.m.
