High River's 2016 Banner Project is under way.

Program Coordinator Joyce Brown says the town is looking for Artists.

"The Banner Project is to showcase local Artists. The previous banners that the town used to own were lost in the flood and there's no money for new ones.

She says a grant from the Town of High River's Community Disaster Advisory Committee is making the project possible.

"They gave us money so we could take any kind of artwork that would make a good picture to be considered. Artists will submit two images and we will choose forty of the best."

She says the Artists chosen win bragging rights and will have their artwork hanging throughout the downtown core for two years.

Brown says anyone with ties to High River can enter.

"It is open to everybody from High River and the surrounding areas and anyone with a tie to High River. If you were here helping with the flood or if you lived here in 1961 you're welcome to join if you have a tie that you can tell us about."

She says the deadline for submissions is June 1, 2016  with selections taking place in mid June.
