Police continue to make headway into arresting suspects taking part in rural crime.

On Friday Cochrane RCMP were at a property in Morley executing a warrant in the effort to recover a large amount of stolen vehicles and car parts.

"What we know so far is that there are several stolen vehicles on the property as well as a large amount of car parts inside the residence," says Cpl. Troy Savinkoff of the Cochrane RCMP. "It appears some of the vehicles on the property are in the process of having parts removed."

RCMP were also at the property Thursday making pro-active patrols in efforts to curb auto thefts in the area.

Upon pulling into the property police located a suspect sitting inside a vehicle with a stolen licence plate and a firearm.

While police were speaking to that suspect another vehicle pulled into the property that also turned out to be stolen, that suspect was also taken into custody.

Cochrane RCMP currently have 5 individuals in custody from the vehicles and the residence. Charges and names will be released once the investigation is complete.

"By being intelligence led and having a well established Crime Reduction Strategy, Cochrane is having huge successes is curbing auto theft and theft from vehicles in our area, says Cpl. Troy Savinkoff, " I would like to remind the public that everyone has a part to play in protecting their property by locking their cars doors, removing valuables and not leaving their vehicle running with the keys inside."
