High River RCMP are looking for the owners of some stolen merchandise.

Corporal Jason Cann says on Friday, March 16 police responded to a two vehicle collision on 498 Avenue, where one of the drivers, who was driving an allegedly stolen truck involved in the crash, also allegedly took a taxi cab after it had stopped to help.

When police recovered the stolen taxi cab with the help of GPS they arrested the man involved and also recovered a large amount of stolen goods.

"When we recovered the cab he had some other property he had taken from a stolen vehicle on scene and put in in the cab before he left. A lot of the property looks like it came from businesses," said Cann.

The dense fog on the morning of the incident helped the man to originally escape.

There were numerous pieces of electronics recovered, including cell phones, iPads and cell phone accessories, as well as an assortment of hand and electric tools.

A good portion of the electronics and cell phone accessories are still in the packaging, and are believed to have been stolen from a business, although there are no sales tags on the packaging to indicate what store they came from.

High River RCMP are attempting to locate the owners of these items so that may be returned.

If you have had any property of this type stolen since February 27, 2018, and can identify your property, please contact Constable Stacy Campbell at the High River RCMP at 403-652-2357.
